Play, Culture and Leisure at IDEC@EUDEC
Besides all the very interesting lectures and workshops related to Democratic Education, we also provide a lot of possibilities for play, culture, leisure and other activities.
As for all activities at the conference, these are open for all ages, children, youth and adults.
The log cabin will be transformed into a vibrant creative space, where both children and adults can unleash their creativity with a variety of materials. Cooking will also be possible there. Right outside, a junk playground awaits, offering opportunities to build large structures.
On warmer days, we’ll provide a paddling pool and sprinklers where participants can splash and cool off.
The surrounding forest invites for walks. There is a natural spring nearby, as well as a pond, and a play forest about 900 meters away. Large meadows are available for football, volleyball, and all kinds of running games. Lashing wood will be provided for construction activities. We also plan to offer a slackline.
For those who need some rest between sessions, there will be a chill area nestled among the trees.
In the evening, attendees can enjoy a drink at the bar, have fun on the dance floor, attend music performances, or relax by one of the campfires.
For youth to connect, we will provide a youth tent.
And there’s so much more! We are deeply grateful to all participants who offer interesting and fun activities, such as: a mindful photo walk, a game of hide and seek, benchball, street games and songs from different countries, a didgeridoo workshop, a meditative sound journey, an open jam session, musical games, a DIY board game session, making a labyrinth with stones or other materials from nature, yoga, meditation, stretching, breathing exercises, and Chinese calligraphy.
We’ve also received requests for: a workshop where young people prepare traditional dishes from their countries, figure making with needle felt, wicker basket weaving, movement workshops, singing, and more.
